Rest in peace officer Wick from the 115 Pct. We are in the same statioin house, same hours , same boss. It is sad to see people around you got kill like this. When they give you a lot stress and give you a gun that is what is going to happen. New York Post February 19, 2008 -- A 21-year-old rookie cop - the son of an ex-police officer - took his life in a Queens park yesterday morning, leaving behind a suicide note in which he "complained" about his job, authorities said. Thomas Wick's mother, who was not immediately identified, found the note, ran down the street to College Point's Hermon A. MacNeil Park, and found his body at 8:11 a.m., police said. A source familiar with the investigation said the note, which indicated that Wick was going to the park, "complained of his hours and [said he] wasn't happy with his job." Wick shot himself in the head with his service weapon, the source added. Wick, who joined the force last July, had been working nights with an Impact Zone Unit, part of an operation that floods high-crime areas with police presence, mostly young officers like Wicks, straight out of the Police Academy. The news stunned neighbors. "It's just too close to home," said Adele DeMartino, 42, a research analyst. "I've lived in College Point most of my life, and you never heard about [anything like] this [before]." Wicks' dad, also named Thomas, is now an FDNY battalion chief. |
